My Ideas

*

Collect memories, not perfect habits.

**

Our primary job as actors is to serve the story - so start there. What is the writer trying to say? How should the audience feel? Ignore the breakdown at first and focus on the script as a whole.

-from ‘Nail Your Self-Tape in 5 Easy Steps’, my new free downloadable course (coming very soon!)

What I’m Reading: Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom.Published in 1997, a timeless classic absolutely chock full of wisdom on how to live. It’s just beautiful. The best wisdom is the simplest, but we have to be reminded of what is important in order to not get sucked in by what isn’t. Just read it. Get it here.

What I’m Watching:
The Fifa World Cup and LOVE ISLAND! What a summer it has been.

Insights

*

Morrie Schwartz on death:

“How can you ever be prepared to die? Do what the Buddhists do. Every day, have a little bird on your shoulder that asks, ‘is today the day?’ Am I ready? Am I doing all I need to do? Am I being the person I want to be?”

**

Al Pacino on an actor’s life:

“An actor has his own life too. That’s why for me work has always been life - something that opens the door and allows the spirit to come out. A world I can visit, where the imagination has switched on and life becomes once again what it was: discovery, delight, ecstasy.”

***

Pamela Douglas on stories:

“What works is something really well told with an authentic voice.”
