CMA Manchester 5th/6th September 2026
Acting for Screen with Barrington Paul Robinson
Barrington is a TV Producer, best known for his work on A Thousand Blows (Disney +) and The Responder (BBC). He is involved in shaping projects from development through to production, including contributing to the casting process and helping to identify the actors who can bring a story to life. This will be Barrington’s first ever private acting workshop, exclusively with CMA Manchester.
Across the weekend, actors will work on scenes from The Responder, selected by Barrington. You will prepare and perform the scenes, receiving redirection, notes and feedback throughout the process.
Barrington will lead both days alongside CMA Co-founder George Bukhari. George will support the practical work with screen acting exercises and help actors prepare the scenes, respond to direction and develop the work across the weekend.
The workshop will also include a Q&A with Barrington, offering insight into his work as a producer, the casting process and what he responds to in actors.

Casting Director Sheraz Ahmed CDG (Happy Valley, Time, The Help, All Creatures Great and Small, The Northumbria Mysteries, The Hardacres, The Fortune) returns to CMA London to lead a completely new two-day workshop focused on the demands of television casting and self-taping.
On Saturday, you will work on scenes from television projects Sheraz has cast, exploring what he looks for in performance and how to respond to direction.
On Sunday, Sheraz will review self-tapes and offer direct feedback on the choices, technique and presentation of each performance.
Sheraz has worked with CMA actors on several previous workshops and has gone on to cast actors he first met through the company.
